SPMU Scalp
SPMU Scalp: Scalp Micropigmentation
Hair density cannot always be fully restored through regenerative treatments. When follicles have reached a degree of atrophy beyond what growth-factor therapy can reverse, scalp micropigmentation offers a different approach: rather than regrowing the hair, it replicates its appearance.
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) uses the Nanoblading technique to place medical-grade pigment into the dermal layer of the scalp at precise depths, creating the visual impression of individual hair follicles. When viewed at natural distance, the treated scalp appears denser and fuller. The technique is adapted to the client’s natural hair colour, skin tone, and the specific pattern of thinning or loss, ensuring the result is indistinguishable from natural follicle density. SMP is particularly effective for clients with diffuse thinning, patterned baldness, post-hair-transplant scalp refinement, and alopecia areata.
At AAYNA, scalp micropigmentation is performed under medical supervision using the same Nanoblading technology used for cosmetic SPMU, ensuring precision, pigment safety, and a natural-looking result.

Steps of Scalp Micropigmentation
Consultation and Design
Your specialist assesses the pattern and degree of hair loss, photographs the scalp, and selects the pigment shade that most closely matches your natural hair colour. The treatment plan, including the density of follicle simulation and the hairline design where relevant, is agreed before treatment begins.
Scalp Preparation
The scalp is cleansed. A topical numbing agent is applied and allowed to take effect.
Pigment Application
The Nanoblading handpiece creates precise, individual dots of pigment across the treatment area. Each dot replicates the appearance of a follicle at skin level. The distribution is designed to match the client's existing hair pattern.
Review
Once the session is complete, the scalp is reviewed with the client. Follow-up sessions are planned to build density progressively.
Aftercare
The scalp is kept dry and out of direct sun for five to seven days. A follow-up session is typically scheduled four to six weeks after the first.

SPMU Scalp FAQs
How long do results last?
Between two and four years. The pigment softens gradually over time rather than disappearing abruptly. A touch-up session at the two-year mark typically restores the result.
Is SPMU suitable for complete baldness?
Yes. SPMU is effective for creating the appearance of a closely cropped head of hair across a fully bald scalp, as well as for filling in areas of diffuse thinning. Your specialist will assess the most appropriate treatment plan.
Is scalp micropigmentation reversible?
The pigments used are semi-permanent and fade over time. Complete removal, if required, can be achieved with laser pigment removal over a series of sessions.
How many sessions are needed?
Two to three sessions are typically required to build the desired density. Sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart to allow the scalp to heal and the pigment to settle before the next layer is added.
Can SMP be combined with hair restoration treatments?
Yes. It is frequently used alongside GFC, AAYNA Regrow, or hair transplant to provide density in areas where biological regrowth has not been fully achieved. The combination delivers the most comprehensive outcome for clients with significant hair loss.
