PRP for Hair
PRP for Hair Treatment
Hair follicles respond to growth signals. When those signals diminish, the growth cycle shortens, follicles miniaturise, and hair becomes progressively thinner and sparser. PRP restores those signals by delivering a concentrated preparation of the patient’s own growth factors directly to the scalp.
A small volume of blood is drawn and centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. The resulting PRP contains a high concentration of growth factors, including PDGF, TGF, and EGF, which are then injected into the scalp at the level of the follicle. These growth factors stimulate dormant follicles, extend the anagen growth phase, improve blood supply to the follicular unit, and strengthen the hair shaft. The result, across a course of sessions, is a reduction in shedding and progressive improvement in hair density.
At AAYNA, PRP for hair is offered alongside GFC as part of the autologous hair restoration category. Your specialist will advise on which preparation is most appropriate for your degree and pattern of loss.

Steps of PRP Hair Treatment
Consultation and Scalp Assessment
Your specialist evaluates the degree and pattern of hair loss, photographs the scalp for baseline reference, and confirms that PRP is the appropriate treatment.
Blood Draw
A small volume of blood is drawn from the arm. The process takes a few minutes and is comparable to a routine blood test.
Centrifugation
The blood is placed in a centrifuge and processed to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma.
Scalp Injection
The PRP preparation is injected into the scalp across the areas of thinning using fine needles in a systematic distribution. A topical numbing cream or local anaesthetic is used for comfort.
Aftercare
Mild scalp tenderness for twenty-four hours is normal. Your specialist advises on hair washing and any activity restrictions following the session.

PRP for Hair FAQs
How is PRP different from GFC?
Both are autologous growth factor preparations derived from the patient’s blood. GFC uses a more advanced processing system that activates the platelets and concentrates the growth factors at a higher level than standard PRP. GFC is the more evolved preparation and is AAYNA’s current standard for autologous hair restoration. PRP remains an effective option and is offered alongside GFC based on individual clinical assessment.
How many sessions are needed?
Four to six sessions spaced three to four weeks apart for the initial course. Maintenance sessions every three to six months.
When do results appear?
Reduction in shedding is typically noted from the second or third session. Visible improvement in density develops progressively over three to six months.
Is the treatment painful?
A topical numbing cream is applied before the injections. Most clients experience mild discomfort. Scalp tenderness for twenty-four hours after the session is normal.
Who is a good candidate?
Clients with early to moderate androgenetic alopecia, diffuse thinning, or hair loss associated with hormonal change or nutritional deficiency. Advanced hair loss with fully atrophied follicles responds less predictably. Your specialist will assess candidacy at consultation.
