Eye Fillers — Tear Trough

The under-eye hollow is one of the early ageing signs  on the face. Volume loss in the tear trough area creates a shadow that no amount of sleep or topical product corrects, because the cause is structural rather than superficial. Eye fillers address this at the source.

As the ligament support beneath the eye area diminishes with age, the periorbital fat descends and the tear trough deepens. The result is an appearance of fatigue, hollowness, and, in many cases, darkening beneath the eye caused by the shadow the hollow casts rather than pigmentation itself. A small volume of hyaluronic acid filler, placed at the correct depth beneath the tear trough, lifts the tissue, fills the hollow, and restores the smooth transition from lower eyelid to cheek that characterises a rested, youthful appearance.

The tear trough is among the most technically demanding areas of the face for filler placement. At AAYNA, qualified specialists use precise anatomical knowledge and, most commonly, a blunt cannula technique that significantly reduces the risk of bruising and vascular complication.

Steps of Eye Filler Treatment

Step 1

Periorbital Assessment

Your specialist evaluates the under-eye area carefully: the depth of the hollow, the skin quality, the presence of festoons or significant fat herniation, and the degree of darkening. Not all under-eye concerns are suited to filler. This assessment determines whether filler is the right approach and, if so, the precise placement required.

Step 2

Topical Numbing

A numbing cream is applied and allowed to take effect. Many filler formulations contain lidocaine for additional in-situ comfort.

Step 3

Filler Placement

Your specialist introduces the cannula through a single small entry point. It is guided beneath the tear trough and the filler is deposited evenly along the curve of the hollow. The result is assessed with the client seated upright throughout.

Step 4

Review

The result is reviewed from multiple angles to ensure the most natural looking result, Minor adjustments are made before the session closes.

Step 5

Aftercare

Mild swelling and occasional bruising are expected for forty-eight to seventy-two hours. Sleeping with the head slightly elevated on the first night is recommended. Cold compresses may be applied gently.

Eye Fillers - FAQs

Will eye fillers remove dark circles?

Fillers address dark circles caused by hollowing and shadow from volume loss. They are highly effective for this component. Where darkness is caused by pigmentation or vascular congestion, additional treatments such as AAYNA Wonder Eye or laser are more appropriate. Most clients present with a combination of causes, and your specialist will assess the primary driver at consultation.

Is tear trough filler safe?

When performed by a qualified specialist with anatomical knowledge of the periorbital area, it is safe. The cannula technique used at AAYNA is the safest approach for this zone as it avoids the delicate vessels that run through the tear trough.

Does eye filler hurts?

Topical numbing is applied before the procedure. Mild pressure is felt during placement. Most clients tolerate the procedure well.

Is there any downtime in eye fillers?

Swelling around the eye is expected for forty-eight to seventy-two hours and is more pronounced than in other areas of the face due to the anatomy of the area. . Bruising occasionally occurs but resolves within a week. Most clients are comfortable to go out socially within two to three days.

How long does it last?

Twelve to eighteen months. The tear trough is an area of lower movement  so the filler metabolises relatively slowly.

Can eye fillers be reversed if I am unhappy?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is fully reversible using hyaluronidase, which dissolves the filler within hours of injection. Your specialist will discuss this at consultation.
